These cakes were made for my friend and fellow singer Anna's birthday. Anna, who sings with me in the Fairhaven Singers (http://www.fairhavensingers.org.uk/) was one of the three 'winning' bidders at the choir's auction of promises. Happy birthday, Anna!

Wedding decorations
I had the honour of decorating my sister's wedding cake earlier this month! I made over 50 of these delicate little flowers which were randomly positionned on all three tiers of the classic fruit cake. I thought the overall effect was pretty professional, and it certainly went down a treat with the guests! One day I'll do the whole lot - bake the cake(s), ice them and decorate them....

Auction of Promises Lot #2: Flirty Thirty-"something" Birthday Cupcakes
These cakes were made for my friend, and fellow singer, Nikki's birthday. Nikki, who sings with me in the Fairhaven Singers (http://www.fairhavensingers.org.uk/) was one of the three 'winning' bidders at the choir's auction of promises. Happy birthday for tomorrow, Nikki!
Tragically, I broke yet *another* handmixer whilst making these. What is it with me and these devices?! At this rate, I'm getting through four per year!!
I've entered these cupcakes into a competition. Keep everything croseed for me, won't you? If my cakes win the cupcake category I get £100 to spend online at a specialist cake-craft store. That would cover the cost of a new handmixer at least :)

Auction of Promises Lot #1: 3rd Birthday Cupcakes
These cupcakes were made for the birthday party of a little boy who turns three over the bank holiday weekend. His favourite colour is orange (hence the orange cases). They are glittery too although you can't really tell this from my photos, can you? I don't think at the age of 3 it would occur to little boys worry about glitter being 'too girly' so I went for it ;-) These cupcakes were a comission of sorts. The mother of the boy whose birthday it is sings with me in the Fairhaven Singers (http://www.fairhavensingers.org.uk/) and she was one of the three 'winning' bidders at the choir's auction of promises. My 'promise' was bespoke/personalised cupcakes to be made to the specification of the winning bidder. I raised £45 for the choir. More lots to follow in due course...!
An omission
I realised that I had forgotten to upload a picture of these wedding-y cupcakes that I made the other week. On the eve of the Royal wedding, it seems appropriate to upload them now! Congratulations Wills and Kate <3

Wedding Cake?
Hello! It's been a while.... Today I spent an enjoyable day decorating an assortment of cakes. I seem to be moving more towards more grown-up, substantial cutting cakes but don't worry - I haven't abandoned the cupcakes - in fact I tried out some new designs for these too. I think that the iced sponge would make a good top-tier wedding cake for the happy couple to cut and I would envisage having dozens of cupcakes on the lower tiers....

Half-term Baking
What? Why yes! A departure from my usual cupcakes! A full-on, grown-up carrot and walnut cake. It's massive (20cm diameter, 3 tiers) and decadently covered with cream cheese frosting. Sorry that it's rather inelegantly presented on a dinner plate (the cake was too large to fit on any of my more dainty pieces!)
These cookies were peanut butter 'n' choc chip. They were nicely chewy with the nuts and milk chocolate chips giving crunch. I bought this gorgeous, vintage cake plate for £1.50 earlier this week.

Dennis the Menace Cupcakes
I made these for one of my best friend's 30th birthday. We've known each other since we were tiny and Dennis the Menace was her childhood hero so I thought it would be fun to go with this theme. I chose black and red cases for my colour-scheme as those are Dennis' colours of choice and I shopped around for the "waferettes".

Christmassy Cupcakes
These cupcakes were made for my beloved's family as a Christmas present. I was slightly disappointed with how they turned out as my handmixer packed up before I'd made my buttercream so I had to do it by hand which meant that it wasn't as smooth as usual and therefore not suitable for putting through a piping nozzle. Oh well... they still tasted very nice and it's the thought that counts ;-)
