Wedding Cake?

Hello! It's been a while.... Today I spent an enjoyable day decorating an assortment of cakes. I seem to be moving more towards more grown-up, substantial cutting cakes but don't worry - I haven't abandoned the cupcakes - in fact I tried out some new designs for these too. I think that the iced sponge would make a good top-tier wedding cake for the happy couple to cut and I would envisage having dozens of cupcakes on the lower tiers....

Half-term Baking

What? Why yes! A departure from my usual cupcakes! A full-on, grown-up carrot and walnut cake. It's massive (20cm diameter, 3 tiers) and decadently covered with cream cheese frosting. Sorry that it's rather inelegantly presented on a dinner plate (the cake was too large to fit on any of my more dainty pieces!)
These cookies were peanut butter 'n' choc chip. They were nicely chewy with the nuts and milk chocolate chips giving crunch. I bought this gorgeous, vintage cake plate for £1.50 earlier this week.

Violet Rose Birthday Bakes

My peers and I all turn 30 this year which is keeping me busy in the kitchen! These cupcakes were made for one of my old school friends and enjoyed with a glass of bubbly :-)

Dennis the Menace Cupcakes

I made these for one of my best friend's 30th birthday. We've known each other since we were tiny and Dennis the Menace was her childhood hero so I thought it would be fun to go with this theme. I chose black and red cases for my colour-scheme as those are Dennis' colours of choice and I shopped around for the "waferettes".

Christmassy Cupcakes

These cupcakes were made for my beloved's family as a Christmas present. I was slightly disappointed with how they turned out as my handmixer packed up before I'd made my buttercream so I had to do it by hand which meant that it wasn't as smooth as usual and therefore not suitable for putting through a piping nozzle. Oh well... they still tasted very nice and it's the thought that counts ;-)
